Competitive Cheer Finishes Season

This season, the competition team was made up of 23 cheerleaders who worked tirelessly to perfect their game day and timeout cheer routines. Their energy, precision, and school spirit were on full display, and they represented NHS with pride. Through injury, they had to make changes week to week as they headed into their first year competing in the Hoosier Cheer Coaches (HCCA) division. At this competition on November 1st, they competed in the 3A Game Day Division with 19 other schools. This 3-minute routine includes a band dance, situational chant (defense or offense chosen on the spot), cheer, and school song. The team was faced with a small setback—a heavy deduction in our game day routine due a small safety error that set them back about 6 places in the final standings. Through this, the team responded with maturity and determination. They finished the day in the top 10 at 9th place out of 19 teams in the HCCA State Finals. The team used this experience as motivation to improve and push forward and prepare for ICC State. That perseverance paid off in a big way. At the ICC State competition on November 8th, the team earned a top 3 finish in their division, the highest placement our program has ever achieved at this level. This routine is a portion of the Game Day routine at 1:15—similar to a real-life timeout at a basketball game. This year marks not just a trophy or a ranking; it is a milestone that reflects years of growth, commitment, and teamwork. This year demonstrated that our competitive cheer program is not only competitive but thriving. Great Season!
