The Girls Soccer team traveled to Columbia City on Saturday to open up NE8 play. After a strong showing by the JV in a 2-0 loss the Varsity matched the Columbia City Eagles step for step. At the end of regulation the score was tied 1-1. The teams remained tied through two seven minute OT periods and 2 sets of PK kicks before the Knights were able to come away with the road win. Results: JV: Columbia City JV 2 – Norwell JV 0. Varsity: Norwell in sudden death shootout over Columbia City. Regulation score 1-1 Overtime score still 1-1 Individual Highlights: Gracie Rinkenberger was the player of the game for her efforts during the game and overtime but she really stood out in the shootout. Grace Mann scored the goal during regulation to tie the game sending the game into overtime and eventually the shootout. Next Event: Norwell hosts NE8 Conference member Bellmont on Tuesday 29th of August. JV plays at 5pm. Varsity will play immediately following the JV game. Approximately 6:30pm.
