The Girls Basketball program opened NE8 conference play tonight against the Vikings of Huntington North. The Freshman and JV picked up wins prior to the Varsity teams taking the floor after recognizing the Squires teams between games. Freshman: Norwell 42 - Huntington North 12 The 9th Grade Girls Basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 42-12 victory over the Huntington North Vikings. Carlee Strunk led the team with 17 points and 7 steals. Elizabeth Dillon scored 11 points and added 6 rebounds. JV: Norwell 54 - Huntington North 10 M. Saalfrank – 13pts A. Waldman – 7pts L. Smith – 9pts A. Green – 4pts J. Dale – 5pts M. Young – 6pts H. Williamson – 10pts Varsity: Norwell 56 - Huntington North 45 The Huntington North Vikings came in to the Castle and took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter. The Knights found their footing in the second quarter and led 23-16 at the half en route to a 56-45 NE8 win. Kennedy Fuelling led the Knights with 26 points. Makenzie Fuess added 10 and Vanessa Rosswurm pulled down 10 boards in the win. The Lady Knights will take on Eastbrook at home in a V/JV contest on Wednesday at 6:15.
