The Norwell High School cheerleaders took their skills to a different level this winter as they traveled to 3 competitions in southern Indiana. They traveled to Jeffersonville HS, Silver Creek HS, and New Washington HS. Just as all sports do, cheerleading and competitive cheerleading involves a lot of prep, planning, teamwork, and hard work. Our cheerleaders competed in the timeout and game day divisions. Timeout division is a 1.25-minute routine and game day is a full 3-minute routine. These 10 varsity cheerleaders took this on and were very successful. In our first timeout competition in Jeffersonville on January 8, they took home first place in Small Varsity Timeout. At Silver Creek on January 29, they moved up to the game day division and competed by doing a band dance, defense sideline, quarter cheer, and school song. They also received first place in this division. In our final competition last Sunday down in New Washington, the girls walked away undefeated and brought home the first place trophy in Game Day Varsity Small division. Your Competition Team members include seniors- Alana Longardner, Olivia Wills, Makayla Richmond, and Madi Campbell; juniors- Milanna Pepper, Emma Roembke, Reghan Plunkett; sophomore- Hadley McSorley; and Freshmen- Emmaline Johnson and Addison Roembke. Star performers who stood out and were awarded by our judges include Hadley McSorley, Makayla Richmond, Olivia Wills, Emma Roembke, and Emmaline Johnson. Coaches Breanna Newell and Mary Fink are extremely proud of their hard work and they thank the community for supporting them and recognizing their hard work on the field, court, and now competition mat. We look forward to next competition season beginning in the summer and fall of 2023. Congrats ladies on a strong competition season.
